Reality Calling Christian Speculative Fiction Review Award: Robert Roush

I am pleased to share this with everyone reading this and those who follow this blog.

I share my reviews with author and fellow reviewer, David Bergsland, of Reality Calling

Reality Calling has as its vision to,
.....provide resources for the Christian author, vetted books for readers, anointed materials to share with the Kingdom and the world, and a book review site with reviews from trusted reviewers.
Technical support and mentoring for Christian self-publishers is found in our companion site: The Skilled Workman. There you will also find Writing In InDesign Producing Books, the book on the best method to self-publish on a professional level.
Our twin focus is first to encourage authors to participate in the final harvest as we prepare for the Coming of our King. It’s a glorious time to be alive and the Lord is looking for authors to help Him save all possible before the Wrath which is to come falls on the Earth.
Second, we also need and serve readers, and commenters, both to help us stay on track, and to share these resources with their friends and acquaintances. As authors and creators, we must stay attached to the Head, Jesus, as well as the readers we serve. For having a call from God necessarily means we serve those we are given. Our readers are our flock with whom we are called minister. Jesus told us we will be held to account for everything we say [or write]. We take that seriously.
As a major part of this vision, I believe that the Kingdom needs more authors willing to lay it all on the line and share books containing the reality of the Christian life. We need books which go beyond mentions of church and vague faith statements. We really need books which share the reality of the power available to believers to bring love, joy, and healing to a world desperately needing hope. The darkness we see in the world today is but the birth pangs of the coming Kingdom on Earth. That’s our glorious hope. God, the Father of us all, is coming to live with us forever in an earth designed for us to share. Alleluia!
Evolving from this, David felt that authors needed to be encouraged and awarded for their efforts in writing according to what he outlined in the above paragraph. In conjunction with him, we have instigated the,

Reality Calling Christian Speculative Fiction Review Awards

There are five awards: (click on their title for more information)

The purpose of this post is to award an author whose books I have reviewed recently that meets the previously mentioned criteria in his novels, but more specifically, the criteria developed by David for Christian Spirit-filled Speculative Fiction:
This includes everything mentioned in redemptive fiction, with the addition of what John the Baptist told us: That one was coming who would baptize with fire and the Holy Spirit instead of [or in addition to] the baptism of water for forgiveness. This baptism is what took place at Pentecost and was prophesied by the Lord to be a time when the disciples were filled with the power of the Holy Spirit.
This is what we see in Acts 19, where Paul sees a lack in the believers because they had not received the Holy Spirit, but had only been baptized in the baptism of John. So, he baptizes them in the baptism of Jesus. The result is seen in verse six: “And when Paul had laid his hands upon them, the Holy Spirit came on them, and they began speaking with tongues and prophesying.” NASB
These believers are clearly born-again and have a deep hunger for scripture, but their relationship with the Lord is intimate. He speaks to them regularly by the Holy Spirit. They commonly, off-handedly, manifest the gifts of the spirit Paul lists in I Corinthians 12: 4-11—plus church for them is much closer to what Paul talked about in I Corinthians 14: 20-33.
Their entire life is based on their intimacy with the Lord, and following Him through direct guidance from Him.
They are commonly persecuted or shunned by the religious and even many of the redemptive. Non-believers quickly come to love them, in many cases.

After reading two novels from a debut author recently, I was encouraged and uplifted by his inclusion of elements of the Spirit-filled criteria in his novels, therefore I gladly award a Spirit-Filled Fiction Award to:

Nasty Leftovers by Guy L. Pace

Reality is back on track, but the world is devastated with only a remnant of humanity left. On a mission to restore Washington, D.C., Paul Shannon and Amy Grossman must face a sinister presence left behind by Satan.

In the ensuing battle, physical and spiritual warfare is waged against the possessed, hellhounds, and even the evil presence itself.

In this fast-paced sequel to Sudden Mission, can Paul, Amy, and their army of faithful triumph against such impossible odds?

The Guru's Review:
I was asked by the author and given a pre-release electronic copy  free of charge to review before its release date on the 15th March, 2016.

This is a great sequel to Sudden Mission. It follows very well from this first instalment on all levels, characters, plot, flow and spiritual themes and it really makes this instalment a worthy sequel. We all know of the rut that sequels of books and movies can fall into, but Pace has avoided this and this instalment should act as a good springboard for the furtherance of this series and his craft for that matter.

I said in my review of Sudden Mission that Pace seems to have found his niche in writing for the teen/young adult market and genre. Further proof is found in this instalment. The plot is tighter, characters further developed and more relational, especially Paul and Amy, not only as a spiritual warrior team established from the previous novel but as a deepening relationship as well. Pace has added a further layer of developing romance between Paul and Amy and this seems to add a stronger foundation for them as a spiritual warrior team fighting the satanic forces in this novel. It will be good to see how this develops in the next installment.

It is the aftermath of the events at the end of Sudden Mission that forms the basis of this novel. The world has been devastated and decimated on every level and Paul and his church seek to help the survivors improve their situation. They travel to the capital and not only do they find survivors but these people have become demonically possessed and oppressed by a fallen angel still present from the satanic rising in Sudden Mission. It is here that this novel takes off, with a faster pace, suspense and spiritual warfare.

The rest of this story is all about caring for these survivors on every level especially the spiritual. Pace accounts very well how the Church group delivered these survivors from this demonic possession/oppression and it is very much spiritual warfare in the biblical sense. I really appreciated Pace not just depicting that they had become saved or delivered but actually showing the deliverance and the salvation account together with its prayer of repentance and follow up. This shows Pace is not just concerned with entertaining his readers but investing spiritual truths and showing the power of the Gospel and Jesus' victory over sin and death and all things demonic and satanic. This is especially important to have in such detail for the teen/young adult reader audience to know these truths and practices.

Pace outlines this in much more detail with the final spiritual warfare battle both in a physical sense and spiritual. Pace has accounted in more detail in this novel the final spiritual battle than he did in Sudden Mission and it is here that he shines again in both keeping true to biblical principles of spiritual warfare and in creating action and suspense. Young readers (and any that are older!) should see the encouragement that Pace has included here, that youth (or any age for that matter) does not mean an inability to use these biblical principles of spiritual warfare to confront the demonic/satanic or sinful influences/entities that we will encounter in our lives. Pace has depicted Paul as flawed but has a confidence through his faith and relationship in Christ to defeat not only the fallen angel but also the hellhounds that this fallen angel uses to entrap the survivors to hell using the power of Jesus' name and the authority given to him by being born again and having a relationship with Jesus.

I was curious why Pace used salt as a deterrent to the hellhounds and demonic influence. I wondered if there was any spiritual/biblical basis for this. I contacted the author and this is what he replied,

Actually, I stole the idea from the TV series Supernatural. And, some of my research has salt used in protection from demons and evil. Mostly, I was grasping for some way to contain the hellhounds, since nothing else seems to be effective. Some folklore uses salt on thresholds and window frames to protect from evil spirits. I just took it a little further and hope it provides a symbolic barrier. It also can be blown away, rained away and disturbed by other animals, so it isn't perfect protection.
I googled this and came up with similar answers as well. Spiritual/biblical basis or not, this certainly added another layer of suspense to the battle that Paul and Amy had against the hellhounds and the rest of their Christian community, it also enhances the spiritual warfare aspects of this battle without detracting from the biblical principles and practice of spiritual warfare. Nice use of poetic license.

As an adult, when I read such compelling, well written and constructed novels while not only entertaining but educating in biblical truths and application while also spiritually uplifting and improving my relationship with God, I really wish I had these type of novels when I accepted Christ at 19yrs of age. I applaud authors such as Pace for ministering to this age groups as these are our future and need to be prepared spiritually for the future.

I look forward to more of this spirit-filled fiction from Guy L. Pace. His commitment to providing fiction that is bible based, honors God and leads his readers to the Gospel and Saviour.

Highly Recommended.

Klandestine Maneuvers (The Adventure Chronicles, Book 2) by

Klandestine Maneuvers (The Adventure Chronicles, Book 2).

The invasion of the Warui ninja was the biggest event that had ever happened in the small town of Sera, Missouri. Now, in the summer of 1992, something even more defining is happening. A group of racists has moved into the town, and they will use threats, extortion and violence to further their hate-filled agenda. To this end, they have targeted the Robertsons, the only black family in the tourist town. What they haven't counted on is young Louis Robertson's friendship with the members of "Adventure."

Jamie, Yoshi and their friends are joined by new faces as they face a different kind of "klan." But can they fight the effects of illogical hatred?

The Guru's Review:

I was given a copy of this novel in exchange for an honest review.

I must confess it was good to be back with the Adventure group! This is a worthy sequel to Invasion of the Ninja and follows on very well with many references to this first novel. Here, Davis has developed the characters and their group dynamics further. This is a good move from the dynamics that were established in the first novel. Friendships and love deepen, the teens show signs of further maturity. I enjoyed the love dynamic between Jamie, Shawna and Yoshi and look forward to seeing how Davis deals with this in the next instalment despite having read what this next one is about. Davis has maintained the close knitted group that we have come to love from the first novel. I can see that he would most likely have not changed this in subsequent instalments as this seems to be one of its unifying features that make this series a success.

While there is not as much ninja fighting compared to the first novel, there is enough to satisfy Davis' love of this genre and to keep us fans satisfied. Davis again describes this fighting technique in an enjoyable and mentally visual account. I understand that some authors find constructing fighting scenes difficult but Davis does not seem to not have this problem. His love of this discipline (martial arts) I can see is one of the reasons he is successful here.

I was expecting some reviews to be severe concerning this novel being about the Klu Klux Klan seeing Davis has portrayed them as society sees them (and not as they themselves state they are about) and as far as my knowledge of them is concerned he has tread carefully in this portrayal. I feel having included more of their ideology and beliefs in greater detail would have detracted from the style and flavour that Davis has set in this series and would have made it far too serious and less enjoyable. His depiction of their hatred towards other nationalities was just enough intensity to suit this novel and the message he is delivering.

I have only one concern with the plot. The kidnapping of the children (by the KKK) is a serious crime but there was not any parental involvement or mention of their concern/grief, this was totally left out. As a parent, I found myself frustrated as I wanted to see what their reaction would have been so I could sympathize with them. There was also very little involvement of the police throughout this account as well, the focus seemed to be how the Adventure group were handling this; while I understand and agree that this series is all about them and their (A)dventures as Ninjas (hence the name of their group) and it being a young adult oriented audience, I still feel it would have been more balanced and realistic if this had not been ignored.

I really enjoyed this sequel. I am looking forward to the next one especially as the ending of this one introduces a character from Jamie's past that sets the scene for this next instalment and leaves the reader wondering where this is going. It even has the words, To Be Continued!

Strongly Recommended.

Chaos In The Blink Of An Eye by Patrick Higgins

It was the weekend before Thanksgiving. More than 100,000 fans were jammed inside Michigan Stadium, on their feet, to witness a heated football rivalry that had spanned more than 100 years. As the football was kicked into the snow-filled sky, they were about to get the shock of their lives, as long-foretold Bible prophecy came to pass before their very eyes, causing many to vanish into thin air without a trace.

But what they soon realized was that it reached far beyond Michigan Stadium. Chaos of unimaginable proportions ensued worldwide. Shock, fear, and panic filled each heart and mind. It was just the beginning of things to come, as life as humanity had known it was forever changed in the blink of an eye...

The next two installments are now available. The fourth installment will be available late Spring, 2016.

Patrick Higgins is the author of "The Pelican Trees", "Coffee In Manila" and "The Unannounced Christmas Visitor." Be sure to check them out...

The Guru's Review:

This is the first writing from this author I have read. I am very impressed with the way this author writes and how he has constructed this novella (82 pages). It is just long enough to set the scene for the rest of the series and whet our appetite for what is to come. It is a real cliff-hanger having the Rapture occur at the 3/4 mark and leave you hanging at the end wondering what is to come and what happens to the characters that this short sets up. It is constructed so well, that I would suggest any reader to make sure that they have the next book in their possession to read immediately as they will not want to delay finding out what happens next.

One thing that struck me reading this novella is the research and application of same that Higgins so masterfully includes and portrays. I have always found that whether you are young or older, learning is always better achieved if it is delivered in a fun way or in such a manner that the participant (in this case, the reader) picks it up easily and therefore its retention is far much more guaranteed than under less fun or favourable conditions. Higgins shines here. His knowledge of American football is superb and is cleverly delivered as a backdrop to this story pre-Rapture and also unifies the relationship between three of the main characters. I know nothing about this particular sport (I live in Australia), but the way Higgins has integrated this into the story as the background setting and as part of the relationship between Justin, Brian and Craig is very enjoyable and I found myself getting interested in this sport!!

For a novella, Higgins has created his characters to be very relatable. I found myself very attached to all of them and interested to see how the rapture affects them, (of those that are left behind) and this adds to the cliff-hanger ending I mentioned before. I am intrigued to see how these character's plot lines intersect in the remaining installments of the series. There has been some basic intersection of one character with two others in this installment and I can see that this intersection of characters will add to and strengthen the plot in the remainder of the series.

This novella is very biblically based. Higgins outlines his "stand" on eschatology in the "Foreword" (Titled For Your Consideration) and provides a convincing account of why he has taken this stand. I must confess that there are elements in this account that I had not considered before or read elsewhere. He has obviously researched this extensively to arrive at his conclusions and I look forward to seeing these integrated in the rest of the series. Stating whether you are a Pre-Tribulation, Mid-tribulation or Post-Tribulation adherent can be risky as this whole topic of eschatology and specifically the Tribulation period, is one very hot potato within Christian circles. I admire Higgins for outlining his stand in this Foreward and basing his fiction series around this.

I found it very refreshing having an evangelistic theme woven into the plot through the character of Justin, being the only witnessing Christian in this story. Other Christian novels either have this type of theme weakly constructed or somewhere in the background and not very obvious, but Higgins is up front with this. This shows what we as professing Christians need to be like if we are following in the footsteps of Jesus and His Great Commission. Even in real life, Christians who are like Justin can become unrelatable and super-spiritual but Higgins has depicted Justin and his wife as genuine and sincere and very relatable. Listening to Justin and his wife, Heather, discuss how to talk to others about the Gospel shows us how to witness to our friends and family without being preachy, self-righteous and pious and without them feeling they are condemned and judged to hell without any hope at all. I appreciated Higgins showing this through Justin's behavior towards Brain, which reinforces that we are to be doers of the Word and not just hearers of same. I loved the Spirit having the occasional words of caution and encouragement when Justin was discerning when and how to talk to Brian about Jesus.

I am always intrigued how Christian authors portray the Rapture. Do they have a gradual build up then just as suddenly as we expect it to happen in real life, it occurs and catches the reader off guard, or is it too predictable? In this novel, I knew it was to happen during the football game as outlined in the book description so I was on tenterhooks reading the game-play description and yes, I was caught off guard, which pleased me immensely as this is just how I like it. Higgins' description of the First Family's confusion, shock, horror, panic, despair, grief at losing some members of their family and the same of the population in and around the football stadium and of those in New York where Tamika is situated, is very realistic and emotion provoking. Definitely adds to the action and suspense of this scenario. Higgins has constructed this well and I am looking forward to seeing this continue in the next installment.

I am glad Patrick Higgins submitted this book to me for review. Despite him offering to send me a PDF copy, I did not mind spending the $0.99 cents to buy it. More than money well spent. I have been spiritually encouraged, challenged and entertained immensely in this novella. I do look forward to reading the rest of this series and his other novels. I applaud him for making his fiction spiritually and biblically based and not afraid to show the Gospel of Christ in his plot and characters.

Highly Recommended.

Guest Post: COIL: Motivated by Action! by D.I. Telbat

Three years ago, Amazon added a book, Dark Liason, (COIL, Book 1), by author, D. I. Telbat, to my list of Recommendations. After checking out this book, I was hooked. However, I could not read this at the time as I had too many other books in queue to read. I bought every book since then and it has only been since the release of Dark Edge and the Christmas/New Year holiday that I decided to start this series. Well I was totally blessed with Dark Edge and Dark Liason. My reviews can be found here: Dark Edge and Dark Liason. After reading these two, I am very eager to read the rest of this series and David's other novels. I was so inspired and challenged with David's writing and ministry that I decided to offer him a Guest post to find out more about him and his passion for the persecuted Church.

So sit back and let David's passion inspire, encourage, challenge and inform you more how our fellow Christians suffer for the sake of Christ in other countries that are hostile to the Gospel of Christ.

Firstly, here is a brief bio of D. I. Telbat:

D. I. (David) Telbat is a Christian author best known for his Suspenseful Fiction with a Faith Focus, which includes his bestseller COIL Series and several standalone Christian suspense novels.

Telbat's Tablet, David's website/blog (http://ditelbat.com), offers free weekly Christian adventure & suspense short stories, or related posts, to entertain, but also to bring attention to the persecuted worldwide. Because of his interest in the Persecuted Church and missions, many of D.I. Telbat's stories are about persecuted Christians—their sacrifice, suffering, and rescues.

Though David studied writing in college, and worked for a time in the newspaper field, he is now doing what he loves: writing and Christian ministry.

You can subscribe to his weekly blog at Telbat's Tablet and receive a PDF gift, “Between the Pages: Other COIL Stories.” Come join the adventure!

David's motto is: There is no redemption without sacrifice.

COIL: Motivated by Action!

by D.I. Telbat

When were you last motivated by an action novel? It’s hard to imagine a fictional Christian organization inspiring us in real life, but the COIL book series does just that.

When I first wrote The COIL Series, I wasn’t sure if it would impact anyone in their faith-walk. Was Dark Liaison just a book with clean storytelling, or was something deeper beginning to happen? Over the years, the courage and dedication of COIL operatives has touched lives worldwide. Maybe it’s time for you to join the COIL adventure!

In Danger

If you’re not familiar with C.O.I.L.,
it stands for the Commission of International Laborers, based on the Bible verse, Matthew 9:38.

Image result for Matthew 9:38But COIL is far from just a missionary corps. These committed men and women infiltrate oppressed countries, behind closed borders, to support and protect Christians in danger. Their missions are covert and the risks threaten to cost them everything. As the author of the COIL novels, I’ve been honored to assume the role as chronicler of COIL missions. Through research into countries where it is illegal to own a Bible or profess Christ, I design missions based on actual reports from real-life conditions in Christian underground networks. This gives the reader a front row seat into the suffering of the faithful, as well as the attitude that supporters of the persecuted should have. We won’t abandon suffering Christians, and COIL leads the way!

Defying Darkness

Above all, I write about COIL Christians who value their own lives less when
faced with death, for the sake of aiding others.Behind enemy lines, in a spiritual war the world denies, God’s people are soldiering for Jesus, pouring out their hearts and blood to support others in anguish, and sometimes bringing the lost to Christ. These are novels, but the battle is real, and we’re all involved.

The spiritual battle we all face in this life is most pictured in the first two books of The COIL Series. How do God’s people stand to resist in the day of difficulty? How will we defy darkness when we’re tempted to remain comfortable rather than endure hardship for the sake of others? Ultimately, COIL’s stand for others exemplifies Christ’s own care and courage to do the right thing, even when it’s unpopular and dangerous.

Covert Response

The most common feedback I receive from readers regarding COIL’s nonstop response to God’s call is the need for all of us to pray more. There are thousands of Christians in foreign prisons and labor camps right now being punished for their faith. Hundreds more will be murdered this year in Africa, Asia, Central and South America—simply because they refuse to deny their Savior.

In the back of each COIL novel, we offer readers a way to respond. There are real-life covert missions waiting for our involvement and local ministries with which to jump on board for Jesus Christ. Do we have the faith to spend our vacation money smuggling Bibles into Vietnam, or the devotion to pray daily for those who are risking their lives for Jesus? COIL answers the call!

COIL Courage

From the shadows, where darkness seems to reign, under the cover of oppression, a man steps into the light. His combat boots make only a whisper as he walks on the damp pavement. He glances behind him, certain a foe lurks nearby. Beneath his blazer, he feels the Bibles taped to his bare skin. For others, he’ll cross deserts and oceans to deliver God’s Word. For Jesus Christ, he’ll willingly pay the ultimate price—if he’s caught. He is a COIL operative!
Now is the perfect time to get acquainted with covert COIL missions. The first series of five books is complete, with the Prequel, Dark Edge, available from most retailers for free to get started! The next series, The COIL Legacy, (first two books, pictured) is about to begin this spring of 2016. The paperback and audio versions follow the eBooks as readers around the world are joining the adventure.

Ultimately, I hope the COIL stories motivate you to step out in faith. But I also hope you enjoy my novels!

See you in the field,

David Telbat

David, this is one sobering, encouraging, inspiring account of the persecuted church and how you illustrate this in your novels. Thank you very much for being a guest blogger here. I pray that the readers of the COIL series and your other novels will be inspired to pray and/or take action through God's direction to minister in this area. I certainly have a greater appreciation of the plight of our persecuated fellow Christains in other countries and have been motivated to pray for them as well.

The Guru's Review:

In my review of Book 1, In The Image of Man, I stated,
If there is one thing that I dislike immensely is reading Book 1 of a series then having to wait for Book 2 when this first book has entertained me immensely, uplifted me spiritually and reinforced spiritual truths from the Bible. All the three things that I expect to see and like to see from Christian fiction. This author delivers this with ease and expertise. Quite a feat and talent for his debut novel.
Well, now this applies to Book 2! I sincerely hope that Book 3 will not be too long in the waiting as the ending of this one leaves the door wide open as to what happens to Ima after the events in this instalment. Again, Roush has entertained me immensely, uplifted me spiritually and reinforced spiritual truths from the Bible.

It was great to be back in the world Roush created in Book 1, In The Image of Man. Although I was looking forward to seeing the plot develop more between Chris and Sarah, Marilyn and Daryl, Pastor Thomas and others, this instalment focusses solely on what happened to Ima at the end of Book 1. This entire novel is devoted to her and the spiritual warfare between the forces of Mael and his demonic horde and those of the Host of Heaven.

This is necessary to further the plot of this trilogy. Roush has this plot full of action and adventure, twists and turns while interspersed throughout with the spiritual warfare principles that were included in Book 1. Here we learn more about submission to God's will and His Ways. Mainly through the angel Adiya, Roush shows the reader that despite wanting to act on her own will in the spiritual warfare battles against Ophois, she instead keeps her obedience to God, understanding that His Sovereignty is above her instincts and she is a Warrior and Messenger, and not the one who has the final say. Every time she kept herself in check with God in this regard, it touched my spirit as I can fully relate to wanting to act on my own behalf when situations have gone pear shaped before going to the Throne of Grace and seeking His counsel first. This is just one example of what Roush instructs throughout the novel. There are many more. It is also fitting in a spiritual warfare novel of this calibre to have the Spirit present and active in the lives of both the Angels and Patricia and Charles as this is what should be the experience of the Christian in real life.

I felt more endeared to the characters in this novel than the previous. Not saying that the previous were not well developed; they were, just that in this novel, I felt Roush had made the angels (Adiya, Eldwyn) and the humans, Patricia and Charles, the mims, (Manufactured Image of Man, human clones) Ima and Trenton, very relatable and real, seeing that the majority of the novel comprises these characters. I loved the grandfatherly figure of Eldwyn, the angel guardian of Charles, who has this demeanor, not due to any aging characteristic but more due to his personality. My heart warmed every time Eldwyn entered the plot! I loved Adiya, her strength in battle, determination to be the best she could be, forever loyal and submitted to her Lord and the hierarchy of the chain of command of her angelic warriors (mainly to Captin Eitan). He is also one very strong and powerful strategist, the leader who takes charge, but also understands and is caring and considerate to his angelic charges.

Having read this second novel, it is quite evident that he is very consistent with how he constructs his novels. The flow never slows, just like the pace, it is fluid, like a bubbling brook, no peaks and troughs in the pace, his characters are relatable and you either like or hate them which is evident more in a series like this where it deals with good versus evil, light versus darkness and spiritual warfare. His adherence to biblical truths and honouring God has not waned in this novel and this latter point is one of the strengths and pillars of this novel's and the series construction.

Roush is one author who is not afraid to present God for who He is and His many character traits. He is also not afraid to present in his novels the behaviour of what a Christian should be. In Patricia and Charles, we see two people who are selfless and committed to God, submitted to Him and put Him first in what they do daily. Patricia is sensitive to the Spirit, has constant daily prayer with Him as a prayer warrior and receives discernment and contact with and from the Spirit during the day. She is a mentor to those she comes in contact with and uses her experiences with Ima to teach her about God, His ways and what His Word is about. Charles, while not a prayer warrior, is more of a hands on person, who is an encourager of the faith. Both compliment each other here and this is a good example of what biblical marriage should be.

I loved how Roush has constructed the plot to lead Ima into the knowledge and experience of who God, Jesus and His Spirit are and her need for Him as Saviour. These events are not contrived which is a great asset to the storyline and is in line with the nature of who God is, but rather had a natural occurrence and follow on from the input of Patricia and Charles in her life in the circumstances that surround the spiritual warfare concerning the battle over her life.

There is an intriguing twist relating to Ima being a mim, that is not suggested as a result of the events in Book 1, and it shows more of the Sovereignty of God in relation to His creation. I did not see this coming and it sets the stage for some very good plot developments in Book 3. Something very good to look forward to that should end this trilogy extremely well.

For those who have not read Book 1, In The Image of Man, they will have a great blessing and a treat in being able to read both of these together. I really pray that Roush will be able to release Book 3 as quickly as possible.

Highly Recommended.
